It's
inspiration Wednesday! Meet Rhonda Hale Bedee. She hails from my East
Texas stomping grounds. Hey Rhonda! Tell us a little about yourself:
you, your family, where you live.
I’m a follower of
Jesus by choice. I married my David 32 years ago; we’ve raised three
children to adulthood and marriage in a suburb north of Houston named
Klein. Always there are challenges and blessings; I’m chasing down and
adding those lift-uppables to my list every day in an effort to make
sure I REMEMBER the good stuff. I still like to be called Mama by my
grown-up kids.
I think you've coined a phrase!
Lift-uppables, love it! I like to be called Mom by my grown kids as
well. What is your passion, business, hobbies?
I’m a spelling specialist, retired homeschooler, seminar instructor,
plus part-time calligraphist and clarinetist. Oh, and proofreader! Wise-Spelling. SWR-TexasTrainers.net. I like poor forgotten little semicolons. New passion is teaching an internationals class at my church.
I'd forgotten we had homeschooling in common. I may be looking for a
proofreader in the near future. How cool to teach an internationals
class! Where do you see yourself in five years?
Training new spelling specialists, training more teachers in the
forgotten art of spelling instruction in elementary and grammar schools,
because there is such a dire need. My husband and I are trusting God to
restore a difficult severed relationship with one of our sons and his
wife. I hope to be a grandmother and enjoy lots of books and poems
with my grandchildren.
Worthy goals. Praying now
with you for that severed relationship. Reading with the grands is the
best, I know! What are you currently reading?
Bible, back to Genesis! Keto for Women by Leanne Vogel. Got a goal to
read a poem aloud daily in 2020. I need some good fiction in my life,
such as something by Jody Day! Using Crayola Twistables wax pencils to
color-code my reading, especially Bible, helps me FOCUS.
Aw, thanks for the shout out. I need to check out those pencils!
Reading aloud is a good practice, one I need to implement for fun and
inspiration, not just for checking out what I've just written, lol.
If you could have the world stage for five minutes, what would be your
message to the world?
Learn to spell, learn to
read your language, read the Bible, follow Jesus – all with a great
attention-getting lead-in that I am not taking time to write at the
moment. I will probably be caught by surprise and wish I had.
I wish you had! Great message. Anything else? Anything else you’d like to say?
People can find something new in God’s word every single time they read
the words…if they WILL. Something new learned last year: when I see
the words “God remembered” in my Bible reading, I remember that its
Hebrew meaning indicates “God is taking ACTION on something He already
promised.
I've always lived somewhere between
I-10 and I-20: small town, small cities, suburbs, but always in East
Texas. I capitalize it like it’s another state; it kinda is. A fun
movie quote describes it as living “behind the Pine Curtain.”
THANK YOU, Jody! This was fun to step back and take a look at myself from your angle.
Rhonda Bedee, Klein, Texas – and yes, there is a KHS down the road from
me. I feel right at home. There’s also lots of pine trees and even
Texas State Forest #2 nearby. You know State Forest #1 is in
Kirbyville.
What a great interview! No, thank
you for stopping by and sharing your life with us. It would be a great
asset at KHS to have you. I think I read recently that our East Texas
area is State Forest #1. I've gone from "behind the Pine Curtain' to
"west of the Pecos."
