I saw a friend today in Walmart. She mentioned that her mother's birthday was coming up and that it would be a hard day. Her sweet mother went to heaven in April.

It reminded me that those who have lost a loved one continue to hurt long after their friends go on with their lives.

Say a prayer today for someone who has lost a loved one. The Father said, "Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." (Phil. 2:4).

It's sometimes hard to know what to say, but I'm reminded today that we should continue to lift the bereaved up in prayer.

What else can we do to show that we remember?

  1. thanks jody for the reminder - sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own lives and hurts we don't remember that others have the same heartache and need for prayer we do.

  2. Jody, you are so right. We need to remember those who are hurting.

Years ago, God gave me a card ministry. While emails and facebook can be great tools to keep in touch, I have found that the touch of a card in hand is way better.

During the first year of their loss, I send cards of encouragement to my friends, letting them know I am thinking about them and praying for them. I write the date of death in my birthday/anniversary book so that I always remember to send them a card on that date, letting them know their loved one is not forgotten.

Two of my friends have lost adult children to suicide. In their pain, they did not want to be with others socially, so as they both have said, they just went through the motions of life. Both of them have since let me know how much those cards meant.

I praise God he placed it on my heart to do a year long card brigade for my friends. I keep stocked up on "praying for you" cards.

Something God placed on my heart to do this year was to make a charitable donation or plant a tree in a person's name.

I am sure there are other ways but this are the 2 things God specially asked me to do.

    1. Alisa! I used to do that and somehow got out of the habit. You've inspired me to take it up again. Thanks for coming by!

  3. Due to the fact old-fashioned style pattern remains unremitting from the manner range, round glasses could add the crowning glory with a male's attire ensemble.
