Sometimes we pray and pray, and do everything we know to do, and a situation just doesn't seem to change. I think of this as I'm memorizing the 27th Psalm. Verse 3 says, "Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise up against me, in this will I be confident."
That word "encamp" implies that the enemy is camped out and planning to stay awhile, just like some of our problems. Day after day we deal with some nagging, stuck like glue, taking up permanent residence, won't go away kind of problem. The Psalmist says "my heart shall not fear", and "in this will I be confident." This refers to verse 1 "The LORD is my light and my salvation., whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?"
It's like tug-of-war. Sometimes the problem has the upper hand, sometimes we do. The best thing we can do is just drop the rope. That's it. What happens if we're pulling on a rope and then suddenly drop it? Yep. Our opponent pulling on the other end falls down. So go ahead and drop it. Let the Lord handle it. Let's just keep doing what we know to do and trust Him. Let's stop focussing on the problem and focus on our blessings. Nothing is too hard for Him. He's got our back. Let.It.Go.
What are some ways we can drop the rope today?
